CNC machining introduction: commonly used parts groove processing and knurling knife use

Round off and chamferd of parts

It is suitable for round off and chamferd of  the outer and inner corners of the general mechanical cutting parts. It is not suitable for  round off and chamferd of the special requirements.

  1. Cutting groove

1)    The chamfer and inversion of the knife groove and phase fittings

2) The cutting groove with the same nominal diameter and different matching

3) Retracting slot with slot

Is a return tool slot with a slot. The diameter of the groove d2 can be determined according to the selected flat key or wedge key; The depth of the cutting groove t2 is generally 20mm. For structural reasons, the minimum value of t2 should not be less than 10mm. The roughness of the cutting groove is generally selected as RA3.2m, and RA1.6m, RA0.8m and RA0.4m can also be selected according to the needs.

4) Grinding wheel overpass groove
It is suitable for grinding wheel crossing groove on grinding surface of general structure parts. Rotary surface and end grinding wheel overpass groove.

  1. Dovetail Groove
    Dovetail groove is often used with trapezoidal guide rail, which plays a guiding and supporting role.
  2.  Lubricating groove

Suitable for general purpose plain bearing lubrication groove and plane lubrication groove.

1) Form and size of lubrication groove for sliding bearing.

2) The form and size of the lubrication groove on the plane

     4. The center hole

See Table 1-36 for type A center hole without guard, Table 1-36 for type B center hole with guard, Table 1-38 for type C center hole with guard and thread, and Table 1-38 for type R center hole.

    5. Knurling

The process of rolling out a pattern on the surface of a workpiece with a knurling tool on a lathe is called knurling. Knurled patterns generally have two kinds of straight and mesh, and there are differences in thickness. The thickness of the pattern is determined by the size of the pitch.

The form of knurl and the shape of knurl pattern

The thickness of the knurled pattern should be selected according to the diameter of the workpiece knurled surface. Small diameter choose small modulus pattern.

 Examples of prescribed knurled marks

① Modulus m=0.2, straight knurled, its regulation marked as: straight m=0.2

② Mesh m=0.3, mesh knurling, its regulation marked as: mesh m=0.3

 Knurl processing

Install the workpiece. The installation must be as strong as possible.

① When installing the workpiece, the length of the out chuck should be the shortest.

② Long work with the top support.

③ When turning the outer circle at knurling, its diameter should be about 0.25mm smaller than the final size.

 Install knurled knife.

① Observe whether the chip on the knurled knife is removed, and use a wire brush to clean it if necessary.

②When installing knurling knife, the pivot pin should be aligned to deflect it by a small Angle.

③Firmly clamp the tool.

 workpiece knurling.

① Choose low cutting speed and large feed.

② Start the machine spindle and apply sufficient coolant to the knurling cutter.

③ Shake knurling knife to cut into the workpiece, and apply pressure until the formation of a full argyle pattern.

④Transtransverse is and longitudinal vertically until the required crob length is obtained.
⑤ Shake knurled knife to quickly leave the workpiece.
